Class B Commercial Truck Driver Training

Classroom hours consist of orientation, log book training, vehicle and brake inspection check, and special features of the straight truck. Hazards, emergency truck maneuvers and accidents are covered with emphasis on entering and exiting roadways, city, night and extreme weather driving. Customer relations and cargo handling are also covered. Behind the wheel handling of your straight truck covers vehicle start up, shut down and operation, basic safe driving techniques, speed and space management, right and left turns, backing, parking, communicating with others on the road and special concerns. Students are also given accident guidelines and learn emergency maneuvers, skid control and how to deal with hazards on the roadway. Additional licensing classifications will be explained during class as well as additional fees (approx $130) that will be due to the State of Maine, depending on endorsements you choose. Students will receive their learner’s permit upon successful completion of the State of Maine CDL Class B testing at their local DMV and be able to request their on road test date two weeks later. Tuition includes books. Course includes: 45 classroom hours and in truck time once students have achieved their learner’s permit.
Note: Participants should have a minimum of an 8th grade reading level and be prepared to pass drug testing.
Required: Valid Maine driver’s license, original and one copy of birth certificate, and a clean driving record. A high school credential is not required.
