All you need is a postcard, a stamp, and a pen! Postcrossing brings many people together, making the world a smaller and happier place, one postcard at a time. There are countless reports of new friendships made, new languages learned, and numerous cultural facts about other countries that people learned through their exchanges in the project. Join Julie as she walks you through setting up your free postcrossing account, address your postcards and decorate them how you'd like. Julie Bolton is a former teacher, website designer, and product manager for a software company. She joined Postcrossing in 2023 when she moved to Maine from Ohio and wants to share her love of international postcrossing with more Mainers. She attended her first postcrossing meetup in Biddeford in the summer of 2024 and met others from Maine and Massachusetts who love connecting around this fun hobby. She is active on the Board of Directors of Saco Main Street and loves calling Maine her new home!

In this workshop, we will uncover critical tax issues that can erode your retirement savings and discuss practical strategies to protect your wealth. Understanding how taxes will impact your income is essential to preserving your money throughout your retirement. You'll learn about Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs); how to calculate them and how they impact your taxes. Also, how Social Security, pensions, dividends, and interest affect your taxes. We'll even cover strategies such as Roth IRA conversions, tax loss harvesting, and how a step-up in tax basis and Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) can work to your advantage. By the end, you'll have knowledge and actionable strategies to consider that may help preserve your assets, maximize tax efficiency, and make your retirement dollars last. Please bring a notebook/pen and a calculator.
