Punch It Up!

Calendar Feb 25, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

Decorative Modern Punch Needle Punch needle is traditionally used for contemporary rug hooking and in the art of ancient cultures. Use basic punch needle techniques, worsted weight yarn and embroidery hoops to create a modern piece of art. Tuition includes one craft cocktail or mocktail and all the supplies needed to create your punch needle masterpiece.

Sarah deGrandis, BFA in New Media from ME College of Art, is a formally trained artist and longtime crafter who knows a little bit about a lot of things. She is passionate about learning different crafts and using modern, fun takes on traditional techniques.

Drumming 101

Calendar Feb 26, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 6 weeks

With focus on the snare, learn to read basic rhythms and play basic rudiments. Get online resources, such as metronomes and play-along videos to help build your skills outside of the classroom. Leave with an enhanced appreciation of music, the ability to play the basics and with the tools necessary to continue to grow independently as a musician.

Required: One 12-inch drum pad with two 5A drum sticks (approx. $30 on Amazon).

Krystian Beal studied Elementary Education with a concentration in Music at UME @ Orono. He currently plays in several local bands and is also a singer-songwriter and soloist.

Empowering Women Through Retirement

Scott Whytock, Certified Financial Planner, has been an investment advisor for 10+ years helping clients plan for issues that arise from the time they enter the workforce through retirement. He assists with investments, insurance, tax planning, estate planning and how all these issues impact you and your family.

With a focus on camera readiness, location approaches, tips to give photos more life, post production tips and how to store your photo files for easy access - learn to tell the most precious visual stories of your life with your digital camera.

Required: Digital camera with full manual settings with an availability of at least 12 megapixels and access to a computer at home.

Walter Margerison, BFA in Photography, worked alongside & studied under world renowned photographer Henry Wessel. He has worked 20+ years in the wedding photography industry, as a photographer with the US Navy and teaches street photography as well.

Stained Glass Art

Gain the fundamentals of stained glass work while constructing a light-catching hanging artwork. Learn to copper foil and solder stained glass pieces while incorporating wire to create links. Tuition includes materials to make one piece of hanging artwork.

Art Night Out instructors are experienced crafters providing a relaxed environment, lots of support and quality materials/tools to ensure a positive experience.

Whether a personal event or business marketing, knowing this program could make AND save you money! Get an introduction to the creative and practical aspects of this extensively used desktop publishing program -considered indispensable in contemporary communications and design industries. InDesign is the designer’s primary layout tool in the creation of advertisements, newsletters, brochures, business cards, letterhead, logos, reports, packaging, newspapers, books and magazines. Learn to create your own! Please bring a pen and notepad. This course uses Adobe InDesign CS6.

Tommy Aikins has been designing magazines, brochures, ads and other printed materials using InDesign and Pagemaker (a predecessor of InDesign) for almost 30 years.

Coiled Raffia Bowl

Need a place to stash your keys, spare change or other small things? Look no further! Learn this easy technique to create a small coiled bowl using natural and dyed raffia and sea grass. This is a fun and easily customizable project for any skill level.

Required: Pay $10 to instructor in class for supplies.
