What is Tangling?
It is an easy-to-learn, fun, relaxing way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns called tangles. Create tangles using a combination of dots, lines, simple s-curves and orbs. It is nonrepresentational and unplanned so there is o need to worry about results. Tangling can help increase focus, creativity, self-confidence and aid in problem-solving, self-image and provide an increased sense of well-being. It has been shown to help with phobias, addictions, pain management, conflict resolution, stress relief and reduce blood pressure.
Deborah Pouliot was an art teacher at Noble Middle School for 28 years. She taught Tangling in her classroom as well as to 100+ teachers in her district with the goal of aiding students transitions from one activity to another.
