Watercolor Batik on Rice Paper
with Marjorie Otis
Choose one of three designs to draw onto rice paper and then apply wax and watercolor paints. Hot wax (180 degree) will be used as a resist to preserve colors throughout the process. Students may purchase extra matting, if desired, for $3-$5, payable to the instructor.
Note: If you have an aversion to the odor of hot wax, this class may not be for you! Required: Watercolor brushes #0 or #1 liner, #4 & #8 round, large 3/4 inch flat or angle and an Ultra-Fine Black Sharpie.
Marjorie Otis, a decorative painter for 30 years, continues her studies at regional conferences in ME & PA. She is a member of the Decorative Painters and Southern ME Crafters Societies, Sea Strokes of Maine, Tole n Me and the United ME Crafters.
