Build a strong foundation in watercolor by studying color theory and mixing, application, creating the illusion of distance, and composition. Students will be walked through their first painting, then the sky is the limit while you continue to build your skills and confidence. Additional materials will be discussed in the first class. No class February 19th.
Required: 1 sm tube ea: Lt. Cadmium Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Alizarin Crimson (Cotman or Grumbacher watercolor hues OK), 1 Round #12 watercolor brush; 1 drawing pencil #3B; 1 eraser; 1 lt board or piece of cardboard; 1 sheet of Arches watercolor paper, 140 lb. cold press (approx. $25-$30). Portland's Art Mart or Artisan Craftsman recommended.
Russel Whitten, a local artist/teacher, studied at The Art Students League of New York and Heartwood College of Art. He is a member of The Ogunquit Art Association/Barn Gallery. Students love his easy, supportive teaching style.Code: 20CRTV.03.318
