Intro to Water-Based Oils & Acrylics

Water-based oils and acrylics are user-friendly and nontoxic. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced painter, you will enjoy exploring these mediums as we paint from still life objects or sketch.
Required: Acrylic Gesso, nylon brushes made for acrylics or water-based oil, both flat and round bristle (1/2 inch & 1 inch); two soft hair brushes #6 and #10, painting knife, water container, paper towels/rags and a palette of all primary colors and white and black (in either acrylics or water-based oils). Any of the following: illustration board, heavy paper, mat board scraps, canvas, canvas board, masonite or even brown craft paper.Optional: Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber and Raw Umber. Materials approx. $30-$40.
Iona Desmond is an artist and teacher with over 38 years of experience. Her pastels and sculptures are in many private collections in the US and Canada and she has won several awards for her artwork.
