Get to Know the Pepperell Mills

Discover the colorful history of the Pepperell Mills at the newly opened Biddeford Mills Museum in the North Dam Mill! These introductory sessions, with guest speakers, will provide how and why world class textile manufacturing evolved in Biddeford/Saco; including how the geography and our natural resources provided nearly everything necessary to construct the Biddeford and Laconia Mills. Focus will be on the textile industry primarily from 1840 to 1916 involved in the mill’s history. The development of the textile industry and associated businesses directly affected the economic growth and the cultural diversity of the Biddeford/Saco community. Learn everything you’ve been wanting to know about our local mills…and more!

David Bishop is a veteran mill employee and current Board Member of the Biddeford Mills Museum. He is an accomplished and skilled photographer who has been an instrumental and key member of the “mill vets” work group providing important research and photo documentation of the mills in operation and its current evolution.
David Adams is a lifelong learner and has been a Biddeford Mills Museum volunteer tour guide and mill vet work group member for the past three years.
