Get to Know the Pepperell Mills
with David Bishop
Discover the colorful history of the Pepperell Mills at the newly opened Biddeford Mills Museum in the North Dam Mill! These introductory sessions, with guest speakers, will provide how and why world class textile manufacturing evolved in Biddeford/Saco; including how the geography and our natural resources provided nearly everything necessary to construct the Biddeford and Laconia Mills. Focus will be on the textile industry, primarily from 1840 to 1916, involved in the mill’s history. The development of the textile industry and associated businesses directly affected the economic growth and the cultural diversity of the Biddeford/Saco community.
