Foundations in Math - MAT 009

MAT 009 is designed to give the basic mathematics skills needed for success in future math courses in college and for many personal and professional situations as well. With an emphasis on arithmetic computations and informal geometry, other topics included are elementary number theory, operations with fractions, decimals, percents, ratio proportion, signed numbers, data interpretation and introductory algebra. Registration by appointment only, please call our Saco Learning Center at 207-282-3846 or the OOB/Saco Adult Ed office at 207-934-7922 to set up a meeting with our Student Services Coordinator, Liis Nigol. Class meets at the University College Saco campus, located in Shaw’s Plaza, Tuesdays, 5-7:30 PM, January 30th through May 15th. No class February 20th and April 17th. See our Academic page for more information. Mary Marra graduated cum laude from Emmanuel College with a BA in Mathematics and certification to teach math on the secondary level. She received a MA, magna cum laude, from UMASS Lowell's Community Social Psychology Department. Before teaching at Saco Learning Center, Mary taught mathematics on the high school and community college levels, and has used her problem-solving skills in various roles as community leader and nonprofit administrator. In addition to her classes at SLC and UC Saco, Mary has developed and taught an on-line math enrichment class through Notre Dame Virtual School.
