Low-tech, simple and lots of fun!
Learn rug hooking from start to finish with every step demonstrated. Easily incorporate rovings, hand-spun and commercial yarns, felting techniques and embellishments after mastering the basics. Discuss the history and tradition of primitive rug hooking, learn about finding and preparing materials and research sources for design inspiration.
Choose a small mat or chair pad from a variety of simple kits which include everything: hook, instructions, binding, burlap, hoop and a selection of one-of- a-kind heirloom and hand-dyed wools ($41-$60, payable to instructor in class). Please bring a pair of sharp fabric scissors, if you have some. Masks and distancing required.

Rachael Conner, Fine Arts graduate of Pine Manor College and an avid artist and crafts person, has been employed by J. Conner Hooked Rugs for over a decade. Learning to hook at her mother’s side, Rachael’s first rug of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night has been published in multiple articles and advertisements for Rug Hooking Magazine, and premiered at a curated show at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockport, ME. Rachael has taught for Saco Valley Fiber Artists Workshops, Women Helping Women and local summer camps and is a sensitive and supportive teacher who loves working with beginners.
