Flamenco Foundations Dance Workshop
with Lindsey Bourassa
Learn the foundations of flamenco technique, including footwork, marking steps, and rhythms, as well as a fun choreography in the flamenco style of Tangos. Explore elements of flamenco's rich history, styles, culture and language. Whether you are an absolute beginner or seasoned dancer, you do not want to miss this opportunity! All levels welcome.Required: Wear clothing you can comfortably move in (athletic pants/leggings and a tank/tee, or long loose skirt), flamenco shoes, character or sturdy shoes with a thick, low heel and no tread. Men may wear flamenco boots or dress shoes (no tread).
Lindsey Bourassa is a contemporary flamenco dancer, choreographer and founder/director of Bourassa Dance Studio in Portland, ME. As a flamenco artist, Lindsey honors tradition while exploring and flexing the boundaries of flamenco. Her work interweaves flamenco, contemporary dance, conceptual themes, poetic verse and multimedia. She has studied, performed and taught in the US and Spain.
