Covered bridges are a marvel of engineering and art. This presentation will discuss some history of covered bridges and their presence in Maine's landscape. Learn about the last nine covered bridges in the state and what we are doing to preserve and protect them. Registration closes at noon the day of class.

Ben Foster, MS in Civil Engineering from UME, is the Bridge & Structures Maintenance Engineer for MEDOT. He is responsible for the safety of over 2800 highway bridges and about 230 railroad bridges. He also leads the division responsible for bridge inspections, overload move permits, ancillary structures and engineering for repairs & rehab designs. Ben has 24 years of bridge experience at MEDOT ranging from structural design, project management and bridge inspections.
