Old Orchard Beach/Saco Adult and Community Education

Create this Shaker-style basket, adorned with a carved and notched oak handle, using flat reed and strand cane in an easy-to-weave square bottom in plain basket weave style. The completed basket measures 6" wide x 7" tall. All skill levels welcome.

Required: A bucket (for wetting reeds), sharp scissors and a kitchen sponge. Kit, including all basket materials, is $20 and payable to instructor in class.

Kim Crepeau, a basket weaver since 1984, has enthusiastically taught her craft for the past 15+ years. From beginner to intermediate, the baskets Kim chooses for her classes can be made by all.
