Using techniques from various Martial Arts traditions, learn the basic animal styles of Kempo, an unarmed fighting art with Chinese origins. This self-defense practice includes punches, thrust kicks, powerful blocks and stances, incorporating well-distributed balance and energy-efficient moves to mimic jungle and mythical animals.
Required: Proof of registration. Wear sneakers and comfortable clothes. Optional: Bring a yoga mat for pre-class stretching.
Sensei Gil Doughty has been actively practicing martial arts since the 70s and has been teaching for seven years. He has trained with Maine Karate Association founder Sensei Reggie Groff, Master Seung Ook Choi of Choi's Kickboxing and Tae Kwon Do, and Sensei Bruce Cross & Master Steve DeMasco of Villari's Shaolin Kempo.
