Get new ideas and build upon the techniques you have already established. Learn to draw with watercolor, understand positive and negative space and color mixing and matching. You will work on slightly more complex still life subjects, with step-by-step demonstrations and explanations on its execution.
Prerequisite: Watercolor Basics
Required: 1 sm tube ea: Cadmium Yellow (light), Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow (medium), Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Red (medium), Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine (or French Ultramarine), Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna; 1 each: Round #10 watercolor brush, 1” wide flat brush, 1/2” flat brush; drawing pencil #3B, eraser, light board or piece of cardboard, and 2 sheets of Arches watercolor paper, 140 lb. cold press (or hot press, if preferred); and a water jar (approx. $40-$50).
Russel Whitten, a local artist/teacher, studied at The Art Students League of New York, Heartwood College of Art, and is a member of The Ogunquit Art Association/Barn Gallery. Students love his easy, supportive style.
