Calendar Feb 4, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 2 weeks

This instructor-led course teaches the critical skills needed to respond to and manage first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest until emergency medical services arrive. Learn to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies as well as adult/child/infant CPR and automated external defibrillator use. First Aid and CPR cards are good for two years and meets the requirements for child care providers.

Karl Finley, volunteer firefighter for 20+ years with Scarborough Fire Department, is an EMT/Paramedic and worked at the Saco Fire Department for 15 years. He has been the Public Education Coordinator for six years and teaching CPR for eight.

Learn this new skill set in a stress-free, nonjudgmental environment. Each workshop is designed to build on the next to give you the basic building blocks to become comfortable using a laptop keyboard, screen & mouse to navigate between programs, websites and communicate via email. The following two-hour workshops are prerequisites for other introductory courses. In class laptops provided.

Mouse & Keyboard: Focus will be on getting comfortable with the use of the laptop keyboard and mouse and/or touch pad to control the cursor. An introduction on how to navigation between websites, applications and programs will be presented.

Crime Scene Investigation

Reality vs. TV

Get a taste of what really goes on during a crime scene investigation with topics such as: types of evidence, seven S’s of CSI, evidence collection, latent prints, gunshot patterns, crime scene photography and more. Case scenarios are provided to help students understand the complexities of a crime scene, along with practical exercises to analyze simulated crime scene evidence. Registration is required and accepted through OOB/Saco Adult Education only.

Detectives from the Saco Police Department will present this class. The detectives have more than 30 years of collective experience in investigating a wide variety of crime scenes.

Learn to set up your personal computer to suit your preferences, discover how to easily navigate and search, as well as file and retrieve documents and other files.

InDesign is the designer’s primary layout tool in the creation of advertisements, newsletters, brochures, business cards, letterhead, logos, reports, packaging, newspapers, books and magazines. Learn to create your own! Please bring a pen and notepad. This course uses Adobe InDesign CS6.

Tommy Aikins has been designing magazines, brochures, ads and other printed materials using InDesign and Pagemaker (a predecessor of InDesign) for almost 30 years.
