Visible Mending Together

Let's mend together! With the instructor and fellow students, we'll share practice and take time out of our busy lives to repair worn clothing. Start off each class with a mini-lesson on a certain mending technique, then break into groups to work on mending projects. Bring an article of clothing (or two) each session that you would like to mend, and learn techniques to help fix them! Supplies will be provided, but please bring a pair of scissors and any specific tools that you would like to use. All levels are welcome, but a familiarity with hand stitching will be helpful.

Sara Ottomano has more than 10 years of experience teaching art classes. She enjoys encouraging others to play with materials, explore sustainable artmaking practices, and create stories together.

Notes from the Sea

We live close to the ocean, so why not include images from the sea in your cards? Join Faith and learn to make the following cards: one with a pull cord to reveal a hidden scene and birthday message, the second uses embossing and die cuts with shells to send an encouraging note, and the third has a raised scene of sea birds and a message of well wishes. The techniques you learn can be used to create other cards for other occasions, and the instructor will provide instructions, all materials, and show you examples of other cards using the same techniques. Registration closes at noon on 5/5.

Faith Garnett began teaching card making in 2009. She sells her original greeting cards online.

The Healing Power of Sound

This experiential workshop delves into a little background information on the types of crystal bowls, gongs, and other instruments used in sound healing. Learn how to listen and play them for therapeutic wellness. Engage in a series of subtle meditations to sense your energy bodies as you listen to the sound instruments, then practice exploring and playing various sound instruments. Bring a journal (available for purchase at Flourish) and pen.

Maribeth Amber, certified sound healer, is an artist, teacher, and mystic. She was initiated at the age of 21, by Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist master of Dzogchen and is certified in Yantra Yoga and studied Kundalini Yoga and Kabbalah with Gurunam Singh, (Dr Joseph Levy ), for over a decade.

Exploring Subtle Body Energy

Energy surrounds us, shaping our lives and influencing everything we do. Examine subtle body energy, its flow and the advantages it offers for relaxation, personal development, and energetic balance. Discover energy working tools such as crystals, tuning forks, and cards and discuss Reiki and sound healing. Gain practical techniques for energy protection, and learn about the ways practitioners tune into energy mapping systems. Whether you're new to energy work or looking to deepen your understanding and find community, this course offers self- and group exploration, insights, and hands-on experiences to help integrate these practices into your everyday.

Bring a yoga mat, notebook/pen, and an open mind and heart. If you have crystals, tarot or oracle cards, you may bring them, but these items are not required.

Jessica Labonte is a Reiki & crystal Reiki practitioner, Reiki Master Teacher in training, restorative yoga guide, grief tender, end-of-life doula, oracle reader, and sound healer. She is dedicated to supporting individuals and businesses through life's transitions. Hooked on Granny Squares

In this intermediate crochet course, we will work on the creation of granny squares to create a finished product. Create multiple granny squares, which can be pieced together into a bag, blanket, or sweater.

Bring a size 5 crochet hook and at least 3 oz. each of four different colored worsted acrylic yarns (avoid dark colors; no black or navy).

Renee Parker works full time as an instructional designer. She has taught as an adjunct instructor at York County Community College since 2019 and regularly facilitates workshops and retreats. In her spare time, she does as much sewing and crocheting as possible.

Intermediate Golf Section 1

Calendar May 8, 2025 at 5 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Designed for players who have prior experience playing a round of golf and even up to three or four rounds per year. Review important aspects of putting, chipping, and full swing with irons and fairway metals. The instructor(s) will demonstrate variables that lead to different types of golf shots (i.e., low, high, curving right, curving left) and will also monitor applied practice and instruct accordingly throughout the session and develop simplistic drills and practice routines that players will be able to utilize after the course ends.

Required: Golf clubs (putter, sand wedge, 7 iron, and Driver), sneakers/golf shoes, and collared shirts. NO jeans, gym shorts, or T-shirts.

Ryan Mondor has 20+ years of experience in the golf industry, with time spent in Southern ME and Northern California. He is the Director of Player Development at Biddeford-Saco CC, where he works with golfers of all ages and skill levels.

Mike Caron attended St. Joseph’s College and a member of the golf team throughout and team captain for his last three seasons there. As a professional golfer, he spent winters playing on the West Florida Tour and FPG Tours until 2023 and is now the head golf professional at Biddeford/Saco Country Club.
