Hand Drumming Workshop

Beginners & ALL levels welcome!

Explore hand drumming through the traditional music of Guinea, West Africa. Alongside your fellow students and Master Village Drummer Namory Keita, play patterns and rhythms. Fun and engaging, Namory's remarkable style unites all levels in a community experience and is fun and engaging—a not to be missed experience! Registration closes at noon on 3/28. Please bring a Djembe, Ashiko, Conga or other hand drum. Some rentals are available at $5/drum, payable to instructor in class. Email info@namorydrum.com to reserve a drum.

Namory Keita is in high demand! He is an accomplished teacher and performer with a distinctive style and a depth of traditional knowledge that is extremely hard to find outside of the Guinean villages where he was born. His assets include his extraordinary talent for captivating any audience and his connections to local and international drummers and dancers.

Country & Latin Line Dancing Section 1

Learn a few line dances to bust out when a line dancing opportunity presents itself or simply because you want to try something new! Discover classic country line dances and popular Latin rhythms, including rumba, cha cha, salsa, and more, in this fun, energetic class! Specific music and pattern requests will be taken the first night and taught whenever possible. All levels welcome! No partner required. Wear comfortable clothing and soft-soled shoes. No class on 4/22.

Have fun and get fit for FREE! This simple, adaptable dance fitness class is focused on body awareness, acceptance, and appreciation. All are welcome! Just show up and dance along, or join us from the comfort of your home. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and bring water. No class 4/22. Class will meet via Zoom on any dates where classes need to be canceled due to the weather. Zoom link provided by instructor.

Amanda Carter's lifelong love of dance led her to become a Zumba instructor in 2022. She has been teaching and developing dance fitness classes ever since!

Get ready for a wedding with dances that are always in style, easy to learn, and great fun! Learn what you need to know to be a better, more confident dancer! Discover how to find the beat, basic techniques, partnership, and styling as we cover the waltz, foxtrot, and swing. Course fee is per couple, and we+H8 will not be changing partners in this class. Wear comfortable clothing and soft-soled shoes. No class 4/22.

Beginner Guitar

It's fun to play the guitar, and you can't go wrong learning from a seasoned instructor and musician like Travis. Focus on learning the names of the strings and the first position notes before progressing to chords and strumming patterns. Before you know it, you will be playing music! No class 4/23.

Bring a nylon or steel-stringed guitar, soft or medium picks, tuner, and Hal Leonard Guitar Method Complete Edition: Book 1, 2 & 3 by Will Schmid and Greg Koch (approx. $20-25).

Travis Taylor has been playing guitar for a number of years and has been a member of a local band for quite some time. Additionally, he has more than 10 years of experience teaching guitar in the Saco school system.

Advanced Beginner Guitar

If you've taken Beginning Guitar or have some playing experience, expand your guitar playing repertoire! Discover additional tunes, first position chords, and get advice on spicing up your strumming. No class 4/23.

Beginner Adult Ballet

Add movement to your weekly routine, learn something new, or even refresh skills from your past! Develop musicality along with a basic knowledge of ballet steps, including proper alignment along with the fundamentals of ballet technique. Each class will consist of barre and center work, along with exercises traveling across the floor. Students will also learn a brief history of ballet along with the historical context of steps and styles of classical ballet. No class 4/23.

Bring ballet flat shoes and wear something comfortable to move in.

Morgan Sanborn is a member of City Ballet of Boston and freelance artist with extensive background training and performing in multiple styles of dance and 25+ years of teaching experience. She is currently an American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum® Fellowship Instructor, certified in Progressing Ballet Technique, Pilates Academy International Mat, and working toward completing a comprehensive Pilates Apparatus Certification.

Beginner Adult Tap

Tap is an incredible way to improve memory, coordination, balance, and reflexes! Develop musicality along with a basic knowledge of tap steps. Each class will consist of a warm-up, center and across-the-floor exercises, and a fun piece of tap repertoire or choreography. Join this fun class to add movement to your weekly routine, learn something new, or refresh skills from your past! No class 4/24.

Bring tap shoes and wear something comfortable to move in.

Gabby Poulin is a graduate of Roger Williams University and was part of the RWU Dance Theater. She grew up training with Community Dance Project and Thornton Academy Dance Company under the direction of directors Emma Campbell and Sarah Choroszy. She further expanded her studies at Bates Dance Festival and Joffrey Ballet School and trained under Morgan Sanborn, Director of Dirigo Conservatory of Movement.
